According the the Indian Embassy (Vienna), "in order to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2 October 2019, the Embassy had organized a talk titled "Popular Diplomacy and the Philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi" by Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna at VIC".
Modi also noted that Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary has been marked at the United Nations with enormous enthusiasm. How will those who are ready to do anything to gain power understand that Gandhiji was a preacher of non-violence. In his remarks, the Ambassador reminded the audience that Gandhi wanted his life to be his message, and that his guiding principles of non-violence, truth, and upliftment of the less privileged had universal appeal that had inspired other leaders across the world. "A few days ago, United Nations (UN) released a postal stamp to make this occasion memorable, now commemorative stamps and coins have also been released here". The 36-hour special session of the Uttar Pradesh legislature to mark the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi began at 11 am on Wednesday. These are beautifully captured by the 46 artists from the Union of Azerbaijan Artists as they expressed their impressions on the contributions of Gandhiji through their work.
Earlier, the Embassy of India organized a number of events, including a painting exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi, cycling event and a tree planting event as part of the celebrations of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Principal Baldeep Pandher said Mahatma Gandhi's principles are indispensable even today. The active support of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan in all these events was valuable.
