The National Weather Service says that "much of Trinity County, far eastern Humboldt County, and northeast Mendocino County" could have snowfall from this morning through Sunday morning.

Because of severe snowstorms, flooding, a bomb cyclone with hurricane-force winds and tornadoes in some parts of the country, the entire weather systems have triggered transport chaos.

The National Weather Service in Wyoming reported 10 centimeters of snow fell in Cheyenne from 7 p.m. Friday through 10 a.m. Saturday "that has been blown all over kingdom come by our winds", said meteorologist Andrew Lyons.

Confidence is increasing in a slow-moving low-pressure system bringing snow and a wintry mix to the region Sunday, December 1 through Monday evening, December 2.

A major winter storm will bring heavy rain, heavy snow and strong winds to parts of Wisconsin and the rest of the region this Saturday and Sunday. A small possibility of freezing rain is possible during the transition from snow to a wintry mix.

Sunday is expected to be the busiest travel day ever for the USA airline industry, with 3.1 million passengers expected that day, according to the organization's estimates. As of Saturday at 8 a.m. CST, the National Weather Service had issued Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories for every county along the northern band of the Midwest, from western Montana and eastern MI, with the system reaching across the Great Lakes into Pennsylvania and NY.

A winter storm warning could impact many travelers today.

"High winds are expected, and Blizzard Warnings are in effect for parts of the Northern/Central Plains". Forecasters are predicting some areas will see well over a foot of snow and gusty northwest winds.

As we get closer to winter "officially" kicking in, most of New England has avoided seeing any snow despite several storms that have passed through during November.

More than a foot of snow appears to be likely for portions of the northeast as a significant, early-season winter storm takes shape.

In terms of snow, the freezing level with this second storm in Southern California will be well above Tejon and Cajon passes.

While it is still too early to determine the snow storm details accurately, it is important to keep an eye on the weather.
