The man who'd been diagnosed with the virus now remains in isolation at home, but he is "doing well".

The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced that screening for the virus will be expanded to 20 USA airports, up from five airports that were doing testing earlier.

Henry said Tuesday that the patient, a man in his 40s who lives in the area covered by Vancouver Coastal Health, arrived in Vancouver last week after travelling to Wuhan, China.

The top United States public health officials today said the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak that began in Wuhan, China, is not a threat to the average American citizen.

The coronavirus death toll has jumped to 106 and there are now more than 4500 confirmed cases of infection across mainland China, including 91 in the nation's capital Beijing, 1100km north. He felt well enough to come to work on Monday, but notified his company about his condition after hearing that his colleague had tested positive for the virus.

"We've had an all hands meeting with local health officials, the hospital where the patient in isolation and state health officials and I think we have a really good plan for monitoring this and if necessary to trace down any contacts". There is no evidence that the virus can be transmitted when the carrier is asymptomatic, she said.

Masks are particularly useful in preventing the spread of coronavirus when worn by those infected and by medical personnel who get close to patients' faces while providing care.

Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, and Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.'s provincial health officer (PHO), have issued the following joint statement regarding a case of a novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

Officials say there is no reason to take any special precautions. Regular handwashing, coughing or sneezing into your elbow sleeve, disposing of tissues appropriately and avoiding contact with sick people are important ways to prevent the spread of respiratory illness generally. The B.C. coronavirus confirmation brings the national count to three confirmed cases.

The German Health Ministry confirmed late on Tuesday that three further cases of thenew risky strain of coronavirus have been discovered in Bavaria, increasing the total numer of patients in Germany to four.

He explained that Canadians should be confident in the response of our public health officials.

The man was not symptomatic on his return flight from Wuhan, and therefore not considered contagious.
