San Jose Police Officer Son Vu

Officer Caught With 12 Pounds Of Weed – Faces 4 Years In Prison

A San Jose, CA police officer arraigned Friday faces four years in prison for drug possession charges with intent to sell after being caught with 12 pounds of marijuana.

The Santa Clara County district attorney’s office say the drugs were found a locker that 44-year-old officer Son Vu was renting.

In a statement, supervising Deputy District Attorney Patrick Vanier said it’s deeply disappointing that an officer sworn to uphold the law would so brazenly break it.

Last year, the incident came to light when the owner of the storage company cut the lock on a delinquent renter’s storage space.

Investigators said 12 pounds of marijuana was found inside, as well as a series of grow lights.

Vu has been on paid administrative leave since last June and is being held on $100,000 bail.

He faces three years and eight months in prison if convicted.

According to police, $5,700 in cash was found in the officer’s personal car as well as a thumb drive which contained information on police calls to marijuana grow houses.
