Video Shows SC Cop Brutalize Female High School Student

Video has emerged showing a South Carolina police resource officer assaulting a teenage girl at Spring Valley High School in Richland County.

The footage shows the student sitting calmly at her desk in the classroom before the officer – identified as Ben Fields – can be seen grabbing her and flipping her desk over.

The officer can then be seen taking control of the student and violently dragging her across the ground where he tells her to put her hands behind her back.

Watch the raw footage:

Richland police say the student was being disruptive and refused to leave the classroom after being asked by the teacher. They say the resource officer came to the room to remove the student but she continued to resist and then resisted arrest.

Richland School District Two. Superintendent Dr. Libby Roof released the following statement:

Our District is deeply concerned about an incident that occurred at Spring Valley High School today. The incident took place between a school resource officer employed by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and a student. Video of the incident is circulating on social media.

Upon learning of the incident, school and district administrators began an investigation. We are working closely and in full cooperation with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department to conduct a thorough and complete investigation.

The officer has been asked not to come back the school while that investigation is under way.
